Immediately compelling and candid documentary about an explicit conversation between Adam, a 27 year-old affluent Jewish man from the Chicago Suburb of Deerfield, and Joel, a Haitian-American man living in the hip Wicker Park area. Topics ranged from how to get women, to touchy subjects, like racism, 9/11 and opinions about the Middle East conflict. Very direct, real time and unfiltered. Simply put, witness two strong characters with battling opinions through the American culture. Some of the things said and admitted to out loud where shocking to me but incredibly refreshing too. We all have moods and beliefs that are based on bias and untruths and that’s whats interesting about what happens in “Adam and Joel.” It’s all laid bare on the tape. It reflects our 20s something culture in this country so well. Discussions about 9/11, racism, anti-Semitic issues and women that are tinged with bias or pain or misconception are all around us and drive policy as well. The result is a pretty compelling film showing regular people and their real feelings about what is going on in the world right now and where they fit in. </p>
